BIOGRAPHY

Roland Michel Tremblay

RM is now published in Paris in French by iDLivre publisher www.idlivre.com/rolandmichel.tremblay
Four books in all, and the rights in English are still available for all of them.

Anarchy, existential crisis, revolution, spirituality and knowledge are references that come back a lot in the work of Roland Michel Tremblay. He has cumulated novels, essays, short stories, plays and even a scenario for a film. Like any young author he is waiting patiently for his first real publications. Meanwhile some pages of The Anarchist have been published in a book called "Les Saisons Littéraires" (The Literary Seasons) (April 1997, No 10, Guérin Éditeur) in Canada and some pages of The Eclectism have been published in the same book-magazine (Winter 1997-1998, No 13). These pages of The Anarchist have been published in a book called Les poètes québécois d'aujourd'hui 1994-1997 (The Québec's poets of today) (Guérin, Éditeur ltée, 1998, Montréal, Québec, Canada). The Éclectism is also getting published three chapters at a time in a magazine called "L'Universel", the first six chapters have already been published and all the text in these magazines will eventually appear in a book (Éditions Universelles, Alphen aan den RIJN, The Netherlands, April and July 1998, http://home.wxs.nl/~edivlist). Other poems of The Anarchist have been published in ENVOL, Revue de Poésie (Vol. VI, No 2, 1998, Les Éditions du Vermillon, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, editver@magi.com). Also, the author has a contract with a french publisher for The Revolution, but has not signed yet. He was born in 1972 in Québec city in Canada and has growned up in a very beautiful region in the north called Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean. He has studied french litterature and philosophy in Ottawa and at La Sorbonne in Paris. He lives now in London where he writes and study at the University of London. It is a matter of time and perhaps meeting the right people that will make him start his life as an author.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

For the moment in English you can read The Anarchist. This book is the least representative writing of the lot. I wish I could at least give you an extract of each of the texts in English, but it is time consuming and I am actually working full time. Also, it is easier and faster for me to write another book than translate one. If there is anyone out there willing to help me by translating those extracts, I will be most grateful.

Black poetry, if we can define The Anarchist is like that. Scandalous book, comic in certain parts, that resumes the traditional speech of the No Future without sinking nevertheless in the dullness. Can we still move masses? Can we again motivate a generation to accomplish some concrete things? Can we still scandalize people and create a legend? If it is necessary to describe a generation, we should not go there through several different paths, it is necessary to aim at the target. What is anarchic in fact is perhaps only the common reality to all. Otherwise, it is where the anarchy begins.

New theory of the Universe! How Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics and the Superstring Theory can change the Universe conceptualised by Einstein and Newton. Just a word: please do not put me in a mental institute, all this is just hypothesis... for now anyway.

And do not miss the Science Fiction Novel based on the theory:

THE VOICE OF THE TRUTH (and its consequences)

Click on the title to read it in French!

The Voice of the Truth is composed of three parts. The first, Through The Green Fields, is characterised by short stories concerning truth and liberty. The second part is named Letters of R.M. and approaches the difficulty in accepting learned values. Finally, the third part, The Voice of the Truth, is the Four Pillars that symbolize the voice of the authority, a truth that listeners will hear, interpret, then will forget. Nevertheless, this divided truth will become the essence of all society.

THE REVOLUTION
Click on the title to read it in French!

The Revolution, by its poetical prose, shows the progress of René in his loves and social success that will take him to a larger finality : the discovery of the end of the ocean. He abandons therefore his fellows to embark on the ocean to the discovery of his finality. He emits hypotheses on the Universe, but ignores even the circularity of the Earth. Nevertheless he will discover the end of the ocean by his own alienation. He is then capable of creating his own insular universe, to make the revolution, to become a God and to establish his new humanity. The Revolution shows how, as humans, we try to develop a huge philosophy without being able to see what the Universe is really about.

THEATRE I

Click here for a Québec version

Theatre I is inspired from an abandoned village around St. John's Lake in Quebec. The first play, The Legend of Jalbert's Valley, is an historical reconstitution of a ghost village. A true haunted village legend is then posed. This legend actualizes the closing down of one factory of the past to the closing down of all the industries based in the region of Saguenay-St. John's Lake of today. Through its poetry and its musical parts, the second play exists in two versions: Antoine and Antonia. The first version redefines the traditional family in a religious way in an incarnate drama by a cast that seems dead in appearance while they ask only to live. This represents the way some marginal people live. Antonia is a rather light and comic adaptation of Antoine.

Waiting for Paris is the fictionalized traditional version of the Underground. The novel is to the third person singular and presents a young man fond of two women. Between Ottawa, Paris and New York, he has to make choices and to attempt to realize his dreams.

UNDERGROUND

Underground is an inspired fiction of the life of the author. It concerns a young student who finishes his studies at the University of Ottawa and who dreams of Paris and New York. He will attempt to benefit from the social security after a summer job that proved disastrous, finally he will find himself in Paris continuing his studies. It is then that he discovers a secret society that is active inside a closed station of Underground near the catacombs under the park Montsouris. The interest of the book is the style in which it is written.

MIND THE GAP, (continuation of the Underground)

"Today I have discovered something extraordinary, phenomenal and unbeliavable that has changed my life! I am descending the escalator of the Picadilly Circus Underground station and I float literally. A fresh wind of revival comes to me, transporting me to the other side of the ocean, making me question everything and opening me to many different avenues: I DO NOT BELONG TO THE GENERATION X! Would it be possible to have a day better than this? Because this generation, according to critics, is born between 1961 and 1971. Tadam! I am born in 1972! Oh, pardon me, but that changes everything! That means I don't need to panic. I do not belong to a lost generation. I have nothing to do with these people who have dozed off looking at the TV of the baby boomers and that have forgotten that they had a destiny to accomplish. Therefore there is no need for sentiments of culpability, the world is open ahead of me, it is up to me to act. I am the God of my generation because I am going to create it at this instant. Well, I say, everyone born after 1971, I declare you are of the new generation Y, the generation that will be active during the next millennium. It is our turn now to decide what is good and what is bad, to see of who we want to integrate with us in our projects and our programs. Because there is a generation gap, and if this is not us that have built this ditch, it is to us to interact together to take the place that we deserve and that will not be given to us."

NO WAY OUT, (continuation of Mind the Gap)

Third and last shutter of the trilogy of autobiographical fictionalized novel. This time it is the universe of Toronto, New York, London and Brussels that is depicted. Adventures of a youth in the bars, pubs, clubs, within different relationships, the alcohol and the drugs, prostitution, saunas and then what again. The idea is to create the myth of the miserable and poor author in a handwriting that grips. Emotions, sensitivity, philosophy of life, everything is there, the author can die at the end of his work.

DENFERT-ROCHEREAU

Published in French by iDLivre

Denfert-Rochereau is a novel that tells the story of a Paris in destruction by the war in parallel of the end of three villages of the Saguenay-St. John Lake in Québec. A young man enclosed in the catacombs of Paris attempt to reach the plenitude by the discovery of God. While he knows that he is going to die soon, he lives nevertheless a rebirth that coincides with the birth of some villages very far from him. But some people will make him believe that above Paris is on fire, thus its visions will relate to the destruction of villages of Jalbert's Valley (desertion), St. John's Vianney (unstable land) and St. Cyriac (flood). It is through the history of his ancestors that the young man will understand the multiple segregations that form in collectivities, small secret societies of knowledge that no one can easily penetrate. Like for example universities, professional associations, religious movements, philosophy, politics, justice and even cooking. The novel shows that the initiation is never happening without liberty and loss of identity. It is a Novel of initiation, at the limit of the esoteric plane that describes the universe of a religious sect by demonstrating that the society in general is functioning on the same principles.

Cinematographic Adaptation
THE CHILDREN OF THE BLACK SABBATH of Anne Hébert
Read a French version by clicking on the title...

I need to work the form of this scenario before I present a definitive version to Anne Hébert. She is the most celebrated author of Québec, has won many book prizes in France and in Canada, and she lived most of her life in Paris. Her publisher, les Éditions du Seuil in Paris, is positive to this production. The viewpoint of Anne Hébert, however, is more difficult. She remembers the disagreeable experience that has ended in court concerning the cinematographic adaptation of another of her book, Les Fous de Bassan. She hesitates and demands to see the adaptation before she says yes. Then, at the current stage, I ignore whether this scenario will be able to reach the screens of cinemas. The story is about a sister in a convent who suddenly discovers her childhood through visions of the past where she was living with her parents in the mountains. She discovers very strange abilities that comes from her mother and this new sort of power will bring the damnation of the convent. The scenario of the film proposes black and white for every scene in the convent, like it was a prison. And color for every vision of the childhood of Sister Julie. This should bring the poetry of the life of her ancestors living in a wooden shed in the forest.

THE BOX
SEVEN DIALS, COVENT GARDEN, LONDON, WC2

(A hundred pages already written, you can read all about it in French by clicking on it.)

Novel with an anti-hero who accomplished himself in the universe of the drugs, sex and clubs of London. The complete story of the immorality is passing by. Back rooms of bars, sexual abuse, exploitation, the grip without mercy of a rich owner of a café called The Box located on the Seven Dials at Covent Garden. A sad demonstration of human limits, but equally the creation of a modern boiling London. A generation without future that lives without God, without pity, drugged to full capacity for days without seeing their own existence. The day of the awakening is death. Until, at least, Raymond becomes schizophrenic and alienated. That makes it possible for him to transpose his mind to another corresponding life in a parallel universe (so he thinks anyway). Therefore Raymond is finding himself in a situation where he can change his universe, but he will have to learn to change his own personnality if he wants to maintain together the different elements of his existence.

THE ECLECTISM
Click on the title to read it in French!

Published in French by iDLivre

The Eclectism is a philosophical essay that follows no program or precise plan. One learns there to reconsider the universe in its entirety until the points of reference exist no more. It is an absolute questionning of everything, where time, space and thought interact to create a world of ideas more real than the daily life. With for creation, in our imagination, each of us is the God of his own universe. We can control it as long as we learn to become more aware of it.

LONDON'S URBAN ELEMENTS

My latest book, all on paper. So it might take me another thousand years before I transcribe it on the computer and then translate it in English. It is about life in London to compare with life in the suburbs. Sounds boring like that, but perhaps my most interesting book to date. You can read the French preface by clicking on the title.
