(The breakthrough about plasma life-forms comes almost at the end of this page. Last updated on 7 May 2013. Please note that the Flir cameras I mention below are much more expensive than I thought, more like US $10,000 to $20,000.)
Below is part of my correspondence with Mr Brian Schill from the International Parapsychology Research Foundation in Pennsylvania (IPRF - www.iprfinc.com) concerning a possible breakthrough in paranormal investigation.

As many of our regular readers by now have come to understand, this website and its content is geared toward more serious paranormal researchers and not so much toward the hobbyist, reflexive seasonally interested (as we commonly see around Halloween) or those who put forth an apathetic, minimally passive effort and yet proclaim to be of the profoundly enlightened within the paranormal science community. As such, these individuals are typically dismissive of this site and its content, however, if you are still reading it must be surmised that you are obviously not one of these individuals and are specifically seeking a greater role than self-fulfilment through improving yourself and your skill set.
Because of this latter commitment I have recently been in correspondence with Mr. Roland Michel Tremblay from London, United Kingdom, who has proposed a revolutionary idea regarding the physics and medium in which paranormal anomalies manifest. Mr. Tremblay’s ideas regarding the subject matter is nothing short of astounding. When I read his ideas on the issue (and as many of you know, I pride myself on thinking outside of the box) I thought “WOW!! This is something, right here in front of us, but we never really considered it… until now.” I think, after reading his ideas, even in their current incomplete state, you’ll agree with my assessment. These ideas are simply too great for me not to share, and with Mr. Tremblay’s permission I share his correspondence with me in its entirety:

Dear Mr Brian Schill,
I have read on your website (www.iprfinc.com) that ghosts are made of energy, bioelectric energy to be more precise, which would mean that they are exclusively made of electrons. How can you be sure? Human bodies as we are also use bioelectric energy, and yet we are not made of energy, we are made of matter, atoms forming molecular structures in which energy is transformed and circulate to power us.
In your opinion, is it possible that most ghosts or apparitions could actually be made of atoms forming molecular structures just like we are? But instead of being carbon-based like us, of more concrete matter, they could be made of gases like a mix of hydrogen and carbon, like carbon dioxide, or maybe even hydrogen or methane, or such mix of gases which could be allowed to form based on what our bodies are made of?
Meaning that the very elements that compose our physical bodies would form the basis of the body and brain of ghosts but in a less heavy form, using lighter elements. My limited experience in technology is that many elements are interchangeable to accomplish molecular structures that can perform or achieve the very same functions and reactions as other structures. It depends on the number of electrons within atoms of different elements and how these atoms can glue together to form useful molecular structures.
It would be very difficult to have stable molecular structures in gas form because gases are by definition so volatile. But even in such volatile form maybe intelligent life forms can be sustained, and perhaps such structures can be more stable than we think. And maybe this is where science has failed to see beyond what is not part of the visible light from the electromagnetic spectrum. Maybe such molecular structures are possible and can sustain intelligent life forms and even human beings with brain and body in a more gaseous form that we just cannot see. It has certainly been theorised that such molecular structures could be possible in gases. Argon being the most likely candidate I think.
If you feel that indeed ghosts might actually be molecular structures made of atoms in gaseous forms, then indeed there could be many new gadgets that could be added to the paranormal investigator equipment. We would need to be able to identify any concentration of gases or other elements of the table of elements whenever paranormal activity is taking place. Once such gases or elements or chemical compounds are identified, there could be a way to make the invisible visible through chemical reactions via other gases or other chemical compounds. It could potentially change everything and bring the paranormal in touch with a more tangible science.
I don't personally believe ghosts are made solely of energy, I find it hard to believe electrons alone could sustain intelligent life and the equivalent of a brain and body. If we assume there is no such thing as other planes of existence in unworldly dimensions, then ghosts exist in the here and now with us obeying the same laws of physics.
When someone dies, somehow they continue as before with their body, brain and mind but with matter of a different density, perhaps in a more gaseous form, and somehow the brain still works and retains its memories after death following a similar molecular structure but made of gases. So we could have two superimposed bodies, both essentially working the same way, one made of more concrete matter, the other of more gaseous matter. And the death of the first one does not prevent the second one from continuing some sort of existence with an awareness and intelligence just as before. Do you think this is possible?
At the very least there is one thing which is important, it is to assess the possibility that ghosts could actually be made of gases and concrete chemical compounds and elements from the chemistry table of elements. Which would mean that they are not only made of energy and electrons but also concrete atomic and molecular structures. And if they are, there should be better ways to see them and perhaps even communicate and interact with them. Better technology could be devised based on real science.
Many photos it seems show that ghosts are made of gases, like the mists, fogs, ectoplasm, orbs, etc., and the fact that they produce their own light, being luminescent like argon and neon gases. It would mean that ghosts are not as supernatural as we think, in fact they could simply be life forms made of gases. And as such, although still concrete and made of elements from the table of elements, they would indeed be invisible and odourless to us, as many gases are, even hydrogen, CO2 and methane, and could easily walk through walls. Suddenly it would no longer be so mysterious and scientists could devise ways to make them visible and consider them of this world instead of a magical one.
On that basis, do you have any idea how ghosts can so successfully draw energy from any source in any form? What sort of entity can absorb electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic and bioelectric energy so effortlessly? How do you suppose they achieve this? It would be hard to find technology that can achieve all that. But also, and especially, how can they gather all the heat around (another sign they may be made of gases) to garner energy or perhaps to gain a more material existence, giving them the chance to interact with matter and manifest themselves to us? I don't suppose you have an answer as to how this is accomplished? I find this an interesting puzzle.
There is one interesting consequence to the fact that ghosts and other demons or spirits could be more material and based in our reality than we think (albeit invisible to us, which is not very difficult since we really only see a small portion of the whole spectrum of light), it is that such entities could then possibly be easily killed, or at least easily chased away.
Some chemicals or other gases could be poison to them, or some other chemical reactions could annihilate them. There would be no need for exorcism anymore or cleansing of houses by mediums. But then we would have to wonder what is the ethical and moral thing to do, because these would be intelligent life forms like us, or other species or animals living in gas form, or less material form, and is it acceptable to kill them? And, could they retaliate? They appear to have much less trouble to see and hear us than we do seeing and hearing them, but this eventually could change.
And first we must establish what they are really made of, and it is a safe bet that they are made of differently organised molecular structures made of the same elements that we are composed of, that all intelligent life forms are made of. And probably also present in the composition of the air around us. Are dampness and other gases (like sewer gases) also factors present whenever there is ghost activity? It could also determine what they are made of or what they need to sustain their existence.
We might not be able to see them, but we might be able to detect them in a more efficient manner, and we might be able to make them more visible to us and our instruments. Do you know anyone who specialises in the identification of chemicals and molecular structures of matter and gases? Do you know what would be the ideal instruments that could gather such information during paranormal investigations (spectroscopy)? Is this something that has already been done? And if so, what were the results?
I await your thoughts on the topic with anticipation.

Mr. Tremblay,
It is truly an unusual occurrence that I have the pleasure of corresponding with someone of your insight and intelligence regarding such matters. I am quite impressed with your explanation and thoughts on the matter as, for many years, paranormal investigators believed that these anomalies exist within the infrared spectrum, as that appears to be where many of the greatest photos of paranormal anomalies have been captured. As the science of paranormal investigation had its beginnings with the SPR (Society for Psychical Research - http://www.spr.ac.uk/main/) in 1882 which then sparked a revolution, so too may we yet have another revolution again. What I mean by this is that for years the "infrared" theory seemed to be the best option in making a case for paranormal activity, however, I do believe that you are on the most correct path to date. In short I absolutely agree with your assessment, and, as an aside, seeing that I work in the oil and gas field and have become familiar with the entrained components of numerous gasses through work with gas chromatographs, course work, etc. over the years I find the ideas that you have put forth not only intriguing but probably the best theory on the subject matter to date. At the present moment my mind is reeling with possibilities... that Nikola Tesla flowed electrical current through gaseous mediums, that gasses can be a composite of entrained matter, that gasses can have a signature of heat or cold... even considering static electricity suspended in a gaseous medium... each of these implications, and the many other inferences that coexist with them, could have a massive and immediate impact on paranormal investigation as we know it. These thoughts, in my mind, are visionary and revolutionary. As we say in the States - This is the game-changer! If I may, I would like a bit of additional time to absorb this as my mind has become nearly overwhelmed with the possibilities, possibilities that have been in front of us all of the time and yet we have failed to see - as we so often do. I appreciate your sharing this information, your thoughts and insights on a subject that conventional science has not adequately addressed to date and I hope to correspond more with you in the near future.

Dear Mr. Schill,
I am extremely pleased by your answer. It seems to me that it was the right decision to contact you with my ideas. Obviously you are the very person to help me identify what ghosts are made of and prove they could be made of gases, you appear to have the ideal experience. I think religions, spiritual movements and new age philosophies have been saying since forever that such phenomena are just energy based, and we never questioned it.
I have been searching for answers about ghosts for days to verify my hypotheses, but could not find anything at all until I found your website which discusses the science that could explain such phenomena. I have read many pages already and I am still going through them all just in case I read something else that could help me in my understanding. If scientists had not dismissed the topic without even reviewing the evidence, I think we would have explained much more by now. All we need is one big breakthrough to spark it all, and my ideas could possibly do it. It is not going to be easy however to convince anyone that life and intelligence could be gas-based, however it seems to make more sense than simply energy-based, when people stop to think of it.
We will have to think of ways to make such gases visible, once we have established the presence of such gases and chemical compounds whenever there is paranormal activity. Perhaps readings of such gases could be difficult to deny and to explain otherwise. It could be promising one way or the other and could lead to further clever ideas and experiments in time to prove more concretely such phenomena. It could open up many new avenues of investigation and more reliable data gathering than for example EMF readings that could be due to anything in this Wi-Fi and mobile phone era. Spectroscopy is not simple, there are so many different technologies and ways data could be gathered from my quick overview of the subject.
You are uniquely placed to see all the possibilities and you have the relevant scientific background. I await what your brainstorm will bring.

Mr. Tremblay,
Over the past week I have been thinking about the possibilities of your ideas and what they could mean. (…) I continue to contemplate the various directions that your ideas could take us. Perhaps even heat signatures in gasses that could be found through such means as real time thermal imaging and composite samples of atmospheric gasses where anomalies are believed to manifest versus samples where anomalies are not in the process of manifesting may also shed some light on the subject. As I continue to work on these ideas, and many more, I am also in the process of completing a website update for the IPRF website. Really, in my opinion, your ideas are far too great to be kept to just myself. With your permission - the only way I would post any information and with full credit to you of course, I would like to propose your ideas on the opening page of the IPRF website this month. Even in the incomplete state, these thoughts are too great to be ignored. Any serious researcher will immediately understand the value of your ideas and the implications of what they mean for paranormal research. (…) I believe this to be the biggest breakthrough yet in the 130 years that paranormal research and investigation has existed and it is these ideas that have the potential to change everything we know about paranormal investigation. I eagerly anticipate your response and look forward to corresponding with you and working with you on these ideas.

Subject: Re: Instead of energy, could ghosts actually be made of atoms in molecular structures in gaseous form?
None of the actual theories where ghosts are energy-based answer any more than the idea that they may be gas-based. How does energy gets to "achieve sufficient organisation firstly to retain a coherent structure, or to contain any kind of neurological organisation that would allow it to exhibit personality"? I can only advance that it may be possible and more feasible if they were made of gases. (…) Ghosts can only be made of atomic and molecular structures, in my opinion they cannot be made of electrons if they are to sustain intelligence.
(…) I came up with my conclusions after researching how energy is being produced, and reading about how fridges and air conditioners work using gases to produce cold. And suddenly getting across all those ghost programmes on the Bio and SyFy channels like Paranormal Witness, Celebrity Ghost Story, My Ghost Story caught on camera (or something). The cold spots phenomenon made me think about fridges.
Perhaps you don’t think much of such programmes, but we learn very interesting little bits of info here and there. For example water may be one thing that stops ghosts from moving about. That would be H2O, so somehow this must affect their molecular structure, or the liquid state absorbs the gases so the gases become liquid. Another bit of info is how heating an office with ghosts stopped the phenomenon. So it does not look like ghosts need the heat to manifest or gather energy, quite the contrary. And in that room before they installed extra electric heaters, it would never get warmer than 60 degrees despite normal heating through the vents, whilst other offices were much warmer. Another fact that needs explaining and could lead to interesting conclusions.

Subject: Fwd: Instead of energy, could ghosts actually be made of atoms in molecular structures in gaseous form?
Dear Mr Schill,
I see you have looked into thermal imaging cameras adapted to see gases just like a normal camera would take photos with an infrared lens.
Here I feel is the perfect technology, cameras at about £900 each ($1440):
http://www.flir.com/cs/emea/en/view/?id=41663
http://www.envirotech-online.com/article_read/1019/
But two cameras might be necessary, for mid wave and long wave infrared regions. They have 5 cameras depending on the gases to be observed.
Is it not another proof that the very technology to make invisible gases visible uses the infrared region of the spectrum of light? It would explain why such infrared filter gives the best results. But a simple filter might not be enough when we read about these new cameras, they also require a cooling to cryogenic temperatures, which these cameras actually do.
We could certainly get wonderful results with these cameras, and instead of photos we would have films. I can just imagine going to the most haunted places, putting these cameras there for the night (or perhaps even during the day) and gathering the best evidence ever.

Mr. Tremblay,
The camera technology does indeed seem to be the perfect fit and, yes, I agree that two cameras may be necessary, however, in the past I have used different nanometer frequencies on the filters and interchanged them on one camera, but the obvious advantage of having two cameras with different infrared filters is that you could effectively monitor the two specific areas of the spectrum simultaneously. Also, in the past, we have set up two cameras on opposite sides of the same room operated by a remote shutter release. Both cameras were configured in manner. The purpose of this was to find out if the "anomalies" were in fact paranormal manifestations instead of simply false positives. Essentially, if both cameras were to pick up the same manifestation it would be regarded for further consideration, however, if it was only captured by one of the two cameras it would typically be disregarded as a false positive.

Subject: Thermal imaging cameras adapted for gases, infrared spectrometers (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer), Spectrophotometers
Dear Mr Schill,
So it seems that the two first instruments that would need to be included from now on in paranormal investigations (until at least nothing significant can be gathered from these after a while) are:
1) Thermal imaging cameras adapted for gases (my previous email)
2) Infrared spectrometers (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometers)
3) Spectrophotometers (maybe, see below)
So, it is clear that ghosts are not a phenomenon happening in the infrared spectrum, it is just that it is the part of the spectrum our instruments need to look to in order to detect ghost related phenomena (likely gases). Because even the spectrometer to detect gases is based on infrared wavelengths, and this is used to detect just about any chemical compound even in the visible range.
I have only done a summary search, but it seems to me the spectrometer type required would be:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared_spectroscopy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourier_transform_infrared_spectroscopy
http://mmrc.caltech.edu/FTIR/FTIRintro.pdf
I could be wrong though, I lack time to research. And I have not found yet the perfect instrument to buy that would be ideal for investigations, but these two are worth investigating:
http://www.thermoscientific.com/ecomm/servlet/newsdetail?storeId=11152&contentId=54563
http://www.blockeng.com/products/laserscan.html?gclid=CP7W3ezvvbMCFebLtAodgUgA4w
The advantages of these are that they will identify any material or molecular structure, not just gases. They are even used in biology to detect amino acids and proteins in cells. The second one (and maybe the first one too, not sure), needs to be maximum two feet away from what you are trying to identify. Successful readings won't be easy, but eventually something will be picked up.
If eventually we don't believe ghosts are made of gases, and it is possible we will get too many sceptics, it is worth mentioning that these two items would complement paranormal investigations anyway, and could gather great data even if ghosts were only energy-based. After all, these technologies are infrared based, we already know this is the best way to get the best photo evidence.
I don't even understand why a spectrometer is not part of the professional investigator's kit, it is the first thing I would have thought of bringing on any investigation. But as you might have guessed I am not a paranormal investigator. I am not against the idea however, eventually I might enjoy doing it.
I also wanted to point out something concerning your idea of the law of deposition (Model of Paranormal Manifestation) that when the energy is released after death it can attach itself to ferromagnetic or crystal material like quartz in the surrounding area. It would be far easier for atoms to attach themselves to matter or other atoms for long periods of time than electrons, if this was solely an energy-based phenomenon. Covalent bonding of electrons is usually a process happening in atoms, tying them up together due to deficit and surplus of electrons within these atoms. Well at least it is my understanding of semiconductors and so it must be similar. I think so anyway, although who knows when it comes to magnetism and electrons.
These energy signatures left in the surrounding areas might be in fact molecular and atomic signatures. Moreover there could be organic material in there or at least traces. That might be detectable too with a spectrometer in places with high paranormal activity, even when there are no manifestations, especially where people died.
I also need to explore spectrophotometers, because with that we might be able to identify material and gases from existing photo evidence, by the spectral analysis of light reflected. I am not sure if that is possible yet, this is what I am hoping for. Investigation then could start at home with the already existing photos and evidence.
I need to investigate if there are existing camera spectrophotometers to take photos and if they should also be brought on investigations, making them a third important instrument to have. Because: 'A spectrophotometer is a specialized device that “sees the full spectrum of colours”. This allows the device to measure the actual colour of everything that it looks at.' (Instead of the green, red and blue dots of actual cameras.) I need to know if they can also see the invisible spectrum of light. These photos could be better than infrared ones. If you know a photo specialist, you might wish to ask. I have not found much yet on the topic over the Internet. It seems to be used only to pick the exact same colour from reality to final product.
I hope I am getting your brain brewing over these ideas... I wish I had the money to buy all these things, could be expensive. But "an investment in your equipment is an investment in your results".

Subject: Re: Thermal imaging cameras adapted for gases, infrared spectrometers (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer), Spectrophotometers
Mr. Tremblay,
Unfortunately, much like yourself, a luxury I am having less and less of is time - to properly perform research, to perform as many investigations as I would like, etc. In the past I have used software for EVP analysis that utilized the Fourier Transform equations, however, I have never applied it to research in the regard of gases. Really though, as long as each of the input variables were correct the mathematical equations should (theoretically) work in the same manner. I will have to make it a point to read over the links that you have sent, but, the gas chromatograph and analysis programs that I have used in the past commonly cost around $20,000 (U.S.).
Another thought that came to mind... in the measurement of natural gas, in some of the larger pipelines we have used ultrasonic metering devices that basically use sound to measure the amount of gas movement, much like a radar, but again, the cost of such equipment would be far too astronomical to consider for our purposes.
I am always open to new ideas and especially to an obviously well-educated critical thinker such as yourself. Again, I am going to make it a point to research more of these ideas you are proposing about this technology. Something I always bear in mind is that If, at the end of the day, everything I have ever surmised regarding the subject of the paranormal is incorrect we still have learned something.
Kindest regards. Brian

Subject: Brain and heart vibrational frequencies and other thoughts
Dear Mr Schill,
The brain frequency in hertz is 72 to 78, and the heart is 67 to 70 (not 60):
http://www.forministry.com/USTXMSJEWASMAS/TheHumanBodyandItsFrequencies.dsp
Unless this website has it wrong, but other websites seem to say the same thing. I am still not sure how this connects to anything. Except perhaps the body or brain of mediums might vibrate higher or lower than us, giving them the chance to hear and see things we can't. My guess would be lower, because on that link above it says people with cancer vibrate at 42 hertz instead of the normal 62 to 68 (overall body), and often terminal cancer people appear to have no problem seeing and talking to dead people on their death bed, usually to dead members of their family. Of course they may be delusional then, we can't be sure. Maybe this is what mediums are good at, changing the rate at which they vibrate or radiate, or at least they are sensitive to such vibrations and radiations.
So if somehow we could regulate technologically the frequency at which we vibrate, we might perceive much more. Not sure if that is possible without endangering ourselves. Maybe this is something that can be developed psychologically with training, like those Tibetan monks who can regulate the temperature of their body through concentration and meditation.
But certainly various gadgets we use in investigations could be adapted to function and record at lower and higher frequencies. Everything must be based on 50 or 60 hertz at the moment, even the main power lines outside, which is good for us but not for what we seek. I suspect this is already being done? And yet we know gases vibrate at much higher frequencies, I think, a significant difference from bodies made of matter. But the energy going through such a gas body could vibrate or radiate differently, who knows
So even the abilities of mediums could be explained scientifically. Of course some people would be born with the ability to see a higher spectrum of light, hearing a higher range of sounds and a better ability to sense or feel vibrations or frequencies of living and inert matter. It would not mean they are strange or paranormal. And this ability to stop bleeding or cure small things, well, on that link above it says electricity accelerates the regeneration of tissues. So these people must be more electric than others, vibrating at a higher or lower frequency.
I remember hearing once on a programme from one particularly sensitive medium that there were ghosts in almost every house she entered. That frightened me. It would mean that a much higher percentage of people dying end up living in either a gas or energy form, or both. And we would only be aware of a few extreme cases capable of manifesting themselves into our normal life. Maybe almost every life form goes on to continue an existence in gas form after death, and only the traumatic deaths have some power over the livings, the power to manifest themselves.
Also, there is something interesting to be said about someone dying and being resuscitated hours later. Is everything still leaving the body at the time of death, gone forever, and the resuscitated person is extremely weak as a consequence once revived? Energy wise I mean. And to revive them we usually give them electric shocks.
Because for the body made of gases it would simply mean that it is coming back in. So in your theory concerning the laws of thermodynamics, we must be clear about what it is that comes out and deposits itself in the surrounding: just the energy coming out, not the ghost or persona itself. But perhaps that energy has a signature that the gas body can use to survive, exist, move about after death.
Almost every single death in nature, animals and even humans in early history, is traumatic and horrifying. Because the law of nature or of the jungle is one of predators and preys. Everyone is being eaten alive by something else or feeds on other living things. It would mean that by definition almost every death is traumatic, unless you die of old age, but even then this must be a traumatic event. So violent deaths or murders cannot explain ghost phenomena, it is just that such cases seem to have had perhaps a higher or lower vibrational frequency at the time of death, and as a result can be felt more by the living. As perhaps the energy release that deposits itself is different, more apt to link to the surrounding due to covalent bonding. So it could still be energy that attaches and deposits itself.
How do you feel when you get extremely bad news, or experience intense fear? This happened only a few times to me in my life. You feel something hard to explain, time is perceived as running more slowly (although it can only be a perception), but you also become physically ill, extremely flush and hot. There are intense chemical reactions going on inside of you, and hence everything inside must be vibrating at a lower rate (explaining the sensation of time slowing down). Being in such a state at death must release something slightly different than a more normal death would.
A second body made of gases superimposed on the normal carbon-based one would explain out of body experiences and people who see themselves from outside their body when dead. So all these topics that acquired a New Age taste, could again be of this world and scientifically explainable.
Just think of a leaf that you cut in the middle, under the microscope you still see the whole leaf, the energy contour of it at least. And the soldiers who've lost a limb and still feel that limb. And these auras that are fairly simple to see if you simply get your eyes slightly out of focus. I thought it might simply be the heat of the body coming out or surrounding someone, but really it could be that second body made of gases. It would also explain the different colours and how moods can affect these colours and perhaps frequencies. Possession would now also easily be explained, it would simply be a body made of gases superimposing itself on another normal being.
The question then would be why do we have two superimposed bodies? Indeed, why? But does such a question require an answer? Does it not suffice for us to observe that it is so? After all, why do we even have one carbon-based body, why do we even exist and are aware? It could certainly have developed naturally through normal evolution.
What is the relation between these two bodies? The gas body does not require the solid body to survive, but it seems the solid body quickly dies and decomposes without the gas one. So maybe the physical brain is not that necessary. The gas one only uses the solid one for support, for all those five senses to register properly what is going on. And then reincarnation can also be explained scientifically. Such a body made of gases could in theory inhabit the body of a new born baby.
It is amazing that a huge amount of people might still exist in a gas form and we still know nothing about it. Especially when the statistics in every country of people who have seen ghosts are rather high I believe. It has been a taboo subject for quite sometimes, for far too long.
These were just some thoughts concerning the consequences of ghosts simply being life forms made of gases, but these arguments could also be valid for ghosts solely made of energy.

Mr. Tremblay,
The below information that you have provided is correct. Much of my work, researched and published years ago (some as much as 10 years) remains on the website, but is in the process of being updated, however, I can not say that it will be completed, published or placed on the website. A great deal of new information has come to light over the last few years as researchers such as yourself have begun to explore new ideas that are far more feasible that the previous models with which we had been working. Means and modes that as we have discussed such as thermal imaging and Kirlian photography, although not new by any means, are being put to test under different applications for other means than those for which they were originally created. With this we have been discovering applications that, although considered "outside of the box," can still provide replicable results in field tests for paranormal applications - as when you mention the cutting in half of the leaf or phantom limb syndrome. Some individuals have provided a great deal of research on these subjects previously, however, it is currently not within my means to undertake a project such as Kirlian photography, although I believe it holds a great deal of promise.

Subject: An important case for gases
Dear Mr Schill,
There is one episode of Paranormal Witness called The Rain Man/Ghost in the Garden (from SyFy and Watch channels in the UK) which is very interesting, they talk about it here with links to YouTube:

Water fall from the ceiling, goes up the wall, form out of nothing on the floor or mid-air and goes up or horizontal defying gravity. So the gases from this demonic entity convert gases in the air into water, and one proof is that one witness says the water was sort of dry and sticky.
My refrigerator does not work properly and leaks water. The water is exactly like that, dry and sticky. That was the water that came out from the process of pressuring the gas of the fridge to create cold, heat and water.
The victim says all the air was sucked out of the room creating a vacuum, and suddenly it was very cold. This reminded me of what a fridge does with gases:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/refrigerator.htm
This does not appear to be an energy phenomenon, it is clearly a gas phenomenon. The air is sucked out, so it is used by the entity to manifest itself via the gases contained within the air. And I remember reading somewhere that heat manifests itself through the molecules in the air, and in space there is no air, which explains why in this vacuum it is cold.
So heat is not used here, it is only that the absence of molecules of air create a vacuum which makes it cold, since heat requires these molecules of air. So no matter what gases ghosts are made of, to manifest in a more physical or solid manner, they also require the elements contain in the air surrounding us.
Air composition from Wikipedia: “Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1%.”
There is also another explanation to explain why it becomes cold, if somehow this is not a phenomenon where an apparition requires the gases in the air to manifest. This lack of heat could actually be a transfer of energy from the heat (although it could also be a transfer of both gases and energy that apparitions gather from the environment). Then this transfer of energy is what creates the cold as the molecules of air vibrate more slowly in the transfer to the gases of the apparitions that must logically be much colder than normal air. Energy is not a cold phenomenon, but gases can be really cold.
Heat from Wikipedia: “Transfers of energy as heat are macroscopic processes. The origin and properties of heat can be understood through the statistical mechanics of microscopic constituents such as molecules and photons. For instance, heat flow can occur when the rapidly vibrating molecules in a high temperature body transfer some of their energy (by direct contact, radiation exchange, or other mechanisms) to the more slowly vibrating molecules in a lower temperature body.”
Not only water was defying gravity, but the victim as well levitated and stayed in the air. Only if he was possessed with lots of gases could the water and he defy gravity, because this must obey the laws of physics. Energy alone could not really get water or a person to levitate or defy gravity, or create water out of thin air for that matter. Sapping the gas components of the air around gives apparitions substance and may provide energy from heat at the same time. This is the best example proving my point.
I have noticed also in lots of TV programmes, perhaps not particularly this present one, that when victims are scratched by ghosts they describe burning instead of scratching. Gases burn people, they don't scratch people. But energy I suppose could also burn people, and there is no doubt that even if made of gases ghosts just like us require energy, but not necessarily bioenergy like we do.
These testimonies are even from police officers and prison staff, very convincing account.
Regards, Roland
Additional info I thought about afterwards
Smudging Sage
On many such programmes it has been said that burning Sage as in smudging (or White Sage more specifically) chases away evil spirits, but as much as you could research the Internet as to any explanation why, you would not find anything convincing.
Not any kind of sage apparently, there are many different sorts and some are supposed to work better than others. The origin comes from the American Indians. Salt (not to burn though), lavender, sweet grass, cedar, rosemary and thyme are also said to help somehow, but why?
Suddenly if ghosts are actually made of gases, most likely gases including such elements as what we are composed of, then studying the composition of sage when smudging could explain how it interacts with the composition of such entities. There we would have a good explanation.
What are body are made of from H. A. Harper, V. W. Rodwell, P. A. Mayes, Review of Physiological Chemistry, 16th ed., Lange Medical Publications, Los Altos, California 1977: “Most of the human body is made up of water, H2O, with cells consisting of 65-90% water by weight. Therefore, it isn't surprising that most of a human body's mass is oxygen. Carbon, the basic unit for organic molecules, comes in second. 99% of the mass of the human body is made up of just six elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus.
“1.Oxygen (65%) 2.Carbon (18%) 3.Hydrogen (10%) 4.Nitrogen (3%) 5.Calcium (1.5%) 6.Phosphorus (1.0%) 7.Potassium (0.35%) 8.Sulfur (0.25%) 9.Sodium (0.15%) 10.Magnesium (0.05%) 11.Copper, Zinc, Selenium, Molybdenum, Fluorine, Chlorine, Iodine, Manganese, Cobalt, Iron (0.70%) 12.Lithium, Strontium, Aluminium, Silicon, Lead, Vanadium, Arsenic, Bromine (trace amounts).”
For the composition of common sage on Wikipedia for example (I could not find the one of white sage), we find that it is composed of:
“The strongest active constituents of sage are within its essential oil, which contains cineole, borneol, and thujone. Sage leaf contains tannic acid, oleic acid, ursonic acid, ursolic acid, cornsole, cornsolic acid, fumaric acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, niacin, nicotinamide, flavones, flavonoid glycosides, and estrogenic substances.”
Many of the compounds found are mixes of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. So, smudging such herbs and plants could certainly affect entities made of gases.
For example, tannic acid:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tannic_acid
“According to Lowe, two forms of the principle exist - one soluble in water, of the formula C28H28O14, and the other scarcely soluble, C28H24O12. Both are changed by the loss of water into oak red, C28H22O11.[12]”
This would certainly be an interesting research area as to which other gases or chemical compounds could affect ghosts.
Body and mind made of gases, life after death
And here are more thoughts about having two superimposed bodies considering what happens when we sleep and dream (which might give us an idea of ghosts’ state of mind):
My latest theory on the topic is that we have two bodies superimposed, one carbon-based, the other gas-based. They both can function as normal with a brain to keep memory, they are equivalent but made of different elements of the table of chemistry.
When you fall asleep possibly the gas-based brain takes over, and logic is no longer as sound as with the carbon-based one. And being dead does not change much, we just go on with the gas-based body and brain instead. But then I would not think our logic mind is that safe, we are then more like in a permanent dream world but still with our memories at the base to feed it all.
I’m afraid we might never actually die. And if we don’t answer these questions now, we might very well end up surviving in a gas form for eternity bored out of our mind. And not only that, but stuck in certain locations where we used to live and where we died, where some of our matter and energy would have formed some sort of covalent bonds with other matter in the environment.
Just ask your family about recently deceased other family members, I bet they will tell you that they don’t really think they are really gone. They will tell you of weird happenings, making them wonder. And certainly they would have seen them in dreams that seem different from other normal dreams. I bet they are still around as gas-based life forms. And for some reason I think there could be a more organised society out there of gas-based life forms. Who knows? What many call heaven could be such a place.
It is interesting to note that many ghosts are able to communicate with us through our dreams. It is not clear if somehow they simply superimpose themselves unto us for this to happen, and if they are already belonging more to the dream world than our reality when it comes to their thought processes. However many appear rather logical and capable of interacting with us, especially through EVP, in a completely normal manner which suggests maybe they are still very much aware as we are.
But sometimes you have to wonder. Many appear lost, they often don’t understand their situation or state, if they died or are dead, and many appear to just repeat the same things over and over again. Like waiting for an eternity for someone to come back, when we would have given up years ago. Their mind does not appear to be all there. Why would you remain on the third floor or a specific room of a building for eternity? Solely because you are bound to places and objects you interacted with while alive?
Depending on conditions at death perhaps you don’t go on with everything you need, a complete body made of gases or capacity and ability to remain fully aware and functional with a full memory of your past existence. You could easily lack the capacity to make rational decisions, or the ability of coherent thinking.
I have heard of many ghosts who cannot read although they could whilst alive. I have experienced this incapacity to read in my dreams, although I am now forcing myself and succeeded to a certain degree to read. It supports my idea that when we sleep our gas brain takes over, and this gas brain is what we have when we continue after death.
The world of ghosts could resemble the dream world, they could continue as in a dream state. This is certainly a disturbing idea. Or maybe some of them have not been taught of what they can do once in that form and they don’t know better. Or simply lack the ability because they are not fully formed.
Impossible to tell, and they don’t appear that knowledgeable themselves when questioned via EVP. It does not seem to me that any relevant and critical information about who they are and in which state they are living in has been gathered this way, what their universe is like, how they perceive and interact with our reality, etc. This is also worrying. Or is there no one out there asking the right questions to them that could shed some light on the matter?
If there is a life after death, and we have millions of witness accounts confirming it, then I think we should better prepare ourselves for what that kind of existence will bring.

Subject: RE: Page on my website - Ghosts made of gases
Dear Mr Schill,
(…)
But all this one day might go away once we succeed in explaining everything scientifically. And I have no reason to believe that we won’t be able to. I am astonished that we have not yet explained it all by now. Technology however is advancing rather fast (although not fast enough for me), and I think likely that such technology will reveal a lot more fairly soon.
We cannot deny that many people remain after death, there is simply just too much evidence and witness statements. I work in a criminal court as a clerk, and I can tell you we are sending defendants to prison for 15 years on fewer evidence and statements than many paranormal stories I hear. So it is easy to convince 12 jurors with even just one witness and barely any evidence when it comes to rape. So I really don’t understand with so much evidence how there can still be people saying ghosts don’t exist.
I just wish to bring awareness to the new ideas and equipment and hope a few serious investigators will buy these cameras and test the theory. If I am correct they will get such great evidence that we can hope many others will follow. If real scientists were to work on this, I’m sure somehow they would get their hands on that very expensive equipment you were mentioning, and probably would get extraordinary results. In time perhaps, once the theory is proven maybe.
I think it would be hard to deny also the existence of some sort of half human half animal ghosts that they usually refer to as something evil. But I see no problem with that, and no need to bring in the Bible and religions to explain them. If we can remain as gas-form after death, maybe there are many other types of gas-based life-forms, that perhaps never even had a more solid existence before. Here we have lions and elephants and used to have dinosaurs. And in gas-form they have their animals, some perhaps almost as intelligent as humans, but not quite as intelligent. And somehow their behaviour is perceived as evil. But is a crocodile or a shark trying to eat you alive evil, or just doing what is in its nature? They can’t take possession or control of your more solid body, but nevertheless.

Explaining Cold Spots
I think I can finally explain cold spots. And what sparked it all is this line on the how a fridge works page (http://home.howstuffworks.com/refrigerator.htm): “The principle behind most refrigeration is simple. Here it is in one sentence: When a liquid evaporates, it absorbs heat in the process. If you want to get rid of heat, you need to coax a liquid to convert to its gaseous state [source: ACEEE].”
http://home.howstuffworks.com/refrigerator2.htm
Parts of a Refrigerator
If you pour a little rubbing alcohol on your skin, it'll feel cold -- really cold. It isn't refrigerated, so how does this happen? Well, alcohol evaporates at room temperature the way water evaporates at a low temperature in an oven. As it evaporates, it absorbs the heat on the surface of your skin, making your skin cooler. A special coolant called a refrigerant functions in a refrigerator the way alcohol works on your skin, except in a refrigerator, the coolant is trapped inside a series of coils. As it makes a circuit through them, it changes back and forth from a liquid to a gas.
To pull off this frosty feat, a refrigerator uses five major components:
The Refrigeration Cycle
The refrigerator in your kitchen uses a cycle that is similar to the one described in the previous section. But in your refrigerator, the cycle is continuous. In the following example, we will assume that the refrigerant being used is pure ammonia, which boils at -27 degrees F. This is what happens to keep the refrigerator cool:
Now, what happens with paranormal entities, if we take back the exact steps:

Subject: Ghosts as plasma life forms, and such life forms' existence is proven! Better than gas life forms...
Brian,
I cannot believe I somehow miss this in my research, but ghosts could be plasma life forms instead of gas. There is even proof of plasma replicating and forming DNA, acting very much like cells in biology. You must read the article below, it all makes sense now. When it becomes cold because the nitrogen gas is compressed and becomes liquid, instantly evaporating, the heat gathered by ghosts must turn a gas life form into a plasma life form, giving shape and form to apparitions. And plasma is an electrical conductor and responds strongly to electromagnetism. Plasma is the fourth state of matter after solid, liquid and gas. And it can form coherent molecular structures closed to biology better than gas! Remains to answer if ghosts still can exist as gas, or just as plasma… This is illuminating!
First, here is the definition of plasma from wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_(physics)
Plasma (from Greek πλάσμα, "anything formed"[1]) is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, liquid, and gas). Heating a gas may ionize its molecules or atoms (reducing or increasing the number of electrons in them), thus turning it into a plasma, which contains charged particles: positive ions and negative electrons or ions.[2] Ionization can be induced by other means, such as strong electromagnetic field applied with a laser or microwave generator, and is accompanied by the dissociation of molecular bonds, if present.[3]
The presence of a non-negligible number of charge carriers makes the plasma electrically conductive so that it responds strongly to electromagnetic fields. Plasma, therefore, has properties quite unlike those of solids, liquids, or gases and is considered a distinct state of matter. Like gas, plasma does not have a definite shape or a definite volume unless enclosed in a container; unlike gas, under the influence of a magnetic field, it may form structures such as filaments, beams and double layers. Some common plasmas are found in stars and neon signs. In the universe, plasma is the most common state of matter for ordinary matter, most of which is in the rarefied intergalactic plasma (particularly intracluster medium) and in stars. Much of the understanding of plasmas has come from the pursuit of controlled nuclear fusion and fusion power, for which plasma physics provides the scientific basis.
If you do a search on “plasma life form” you will find lots of information, even on the New Scientist website:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn4174-plasma-blobs-hint-at-new-form-of-life.html
What do you think? Is this not even more promising than ghosts being made of gas?
You must read this below (although I fail to see the need to call this Dark Plasma Theory, I believe there is no need for dark matter or dark energy at all in these matters, as I don’t believe dark matter or dark energy actually exist):

Life-Like Qualities of Plasma
Bohm, a leading expert in twentieth century plasma physics, observed in amazement that once electrons were in plasma, they stopped behaving like individuals and started behaving as if they were a part of a larger and interconnected whole. Although the individual movements of each electron appeared to be random, vast numbers of electrons were able to produce collective effects that were surprisingly well organized and appeared to behave like a life form. The plasma constantly regenerated itself and enclosed impurities in a wall in the same way that a biological organism, like the unicellular amoeba, might encase a foreign substance in a cyst. So amazed was Bohm by these life-like qualities that he later remarked that he frequently had the impression that the electron sea was "alive" and that plasma possessed some of the traits of living things. The debate on the existence of plasma-based life forms has been going on for more than 20 years ever since some models showed that plasma can mimic the functions of a primitive cell.
Plasma cosmologist, Donald Scott, notes that "...a [plasma] double layer can act much like a membrane that divides a biological cell". A model of plasma double layers (a structure commonly found in complex plasmas) has been used to investigate ion transport across biological cell membranes by researchers (See American Journal of Physics, May 2000, Volume 68, Issue 5, pp. 450-455). Researchers noted that "Concepts like charge neutrality, Debye length, and double layer [used in plasma physics] are very useful to explain the electrical properties of a cellular membrane".
Plasma physicist Hannes Alfvén also noted the association of double layers with cellular structure, as had Irving Langmuir before him, who coined the term "plasma" after its resemblance to living blood cells.
David Brin's Sundiver also speculated on plasma life forms. This science fiction proposed a form of life existing within the plasma atmosphere of a star using complex self-sustaining magnetic fields. Similar types of plasmoid life have been proposed to exist in other places, such as planetary ionospheres or interstellar space. Gregory Benford had a form of plasma-based life exist in the accretion disk of a primordial black hole in his novel Eater.
Plasma Life Forms in Space
An international scientific team has discovered that under the right conditions, particles of inorganic dust can become organized into helical structures which can interact with each other in ways that are usually associated with organic life. Using a computer model of molecular dynamics, V N Tsytovich and his colleagues of the Russian Academy of Science showed that particles in plasma can undergo self-organization as electric charges become separated and the plasma becomes polarized in their paper entitled From Plasma Crystals and Helical Structures towards Inorganic Living Matter, published in the New Journal of Physics in August 2007. Past studies, subject to Earth's gravity, have shown that if enough particles are injected into a low-temperature plasma, they will spontaneously organize into crystal-like structures or "plasma crystals".
Tsytovich's computer simulations suggest that in the gravity-free environment of space, the plasma particles will bead together to form string-like filaments which will then twist into helical strands resembling DNA that are electrically charged and are attracted to each other. The helical structures undergo changes that are normally associated with biological molecules, such as DNA and proteins, say the researchers. They can, for instance, divide to form copies of the original structure; which then interact to induce changes in their neighbors that evolve into other new structures. The less stable structures break down over time leaving behind only the structures that are most adapted to the environment. "These complex, self-organized plasma structures exhibit all the necessary properties to qualify them as candidates for inorganic living matter", says Tsytovich, "they are autonomous, they reproduce and they evolve". He adds that the ionized conditions needed to form these helical structures are common in outer space.
If that is so, then it will mean that plasma life forms are the most common life form in the universe, given that plasma makes up more than 99% of our visible universe which is almost everywhere ionized. This is in stark contrast to carbon-based life forms, which according to the Rare Earth hypothesis proposed by Peter Ward and Donald Brownlee, would be rare in the universe due to a number of factors - including the need for an acceptable range of temperatures to survive. Complex carbon based life may be as rare as solid rocky bodies like the Earth in the universe. Plasma, on the other hand, is associated with high temperatures. Plasma life forms would be much more adapted to environments which would be considered hostile to carbon-based life forms. It is possible that plasma life forms were already present in the gas and materials that formed the Earth 4.6 billion years ago. Carbon-based biomolecular life forms only appeared 1 billion years later. Tsytovich and other scientists (including Lozneanu and Sanduloviciu, discussed below) have proposed that plasma life forms, in fact, spurred development of organic carbon-based life on Earth. In this connection, Tsytovich pointed out that plasma life forms can develop under more down to Earth conditions such as at the point of a lightning strike. The researchers hint that perhaps a plasma form of life emerged on the primordial Earth which had a highly ionized atmosphere, which then acted as the template for the more familiar organic molecules we know today. A plasma bubble could form at the end of a lightning strike and act as a mould for chemicals to conform with to form a primitive biological cell.
Plasma Life Forms in the Laboratory
This is not the first time in recent years that plasma life forms have been studied. In 2003 physicists; Erzilia Lozneanu and Mircea Sanduloviciu of Cuza University, Romania, described in their research paper Minimal Cell System created in Laboratory by Self-Organization (published in Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, volume 18, page 335), how they created plasma spheres in the laboratory that can grow, replicate and communicate - fulfilling most of the traditional requirements for biological cells. They are convinced that these plasma spheres offer a radically new explanation of how life began and proposed that they were precursors to biological evolution. The researchers studied environmental conditions similar to those that existed on the Earth before life began, when the planet was enveloped in electric storms that caused ionized gases to form in the atmosphere. They inserted two electrodes into a chamber containing a low-temperature polarized plasma of argon - a gas in which some of the atoms have been split into negatively-charged electrons and positively-charged ions. They applied a high voltage to the electrodes, producing an arc of energy that bolted across the gap between them, like a miniature lightning strike. Sanduloviciu says this electric spark caused a high concentration of ions and electrons to accumulate at the positively charged electrode, which spontaneously formed spheres. The evolved sphere appears as a stable, self-confined, layered, luminous and nearly spherical body - much like the "orbs" described in the paranormal literature and discussed below. The amount of energy in the initial spark governed their size and lifespan. Sanduloviciu grew spheres from a few micrometers to up to three centimeters in diameter.
Lozneanu and Sanduloviciu describe a rhythmic "inhalation" of the nucleus which mimics the breathing process of living systems and results in pulsations. The spheres could replicate by splitting into two. Under the right conditions they grew bigger, taking up neutral argon atoms and splitting them into ions and electrons to replenish their boundary layers. Finally, they could communicate information by emitting electromagnetic energy, making the atoms within other spheres vibrate at a particular frequency. "This is no different from the vibrating diaphragm in a telephone which enables information to be communicated from one point to another," says David Cohen, reporting in the journal New Scientist. This would give these plasma spheres an ability which would be described as telepathic if we did not know how electromagnetic waves worked. Sanduloviciu insists that although the spheres require high temperature to form, they can survive at lower temperatures. "That would be the sort of environment in which normal biochemical interactions occur". According to Sanduloviciu, these plasma spheres were the first cells on Earth, arising within electric storms, and he believes that the emergence of such spheres is a prerequisite for the evolution of biological cells. He says that the cell-like spheres could be at the origin of other forms of life we have not yet considered. "There could be life out there, but not as we know it" he says. Indeed, according to plasma metaphysics, the microscopic orbs (described in the paranormal literature) and the macroscopic subtle bodies (described in the metaphysical literature) are plasma-based life forms.
The Physical-Etheric Nucleus in Metaphysical Literature
Each subtle body has a nucleus - which metaphysicists Charles Leadbeater and Annie Besant had described as a "permanent particle" almost a century ago. Leadbeater calls the nucleus of the higher etheric double a "physical-etheric atom". Information about the relevant subtle body is stored in this particle (its composition, frequency, structure and associative memories). In this way the experiences that the subtle body has gone through in this universe are stored or are linked to this nucleus - according to Leadbeater and Besant. The particle is analogous to DNA in the biomolecular body. DNA is referred to as a "bioparticle" in the medical literature and it stores or links vast amounts of information about a particular life-form. Hindu metaphysics describes these particles or nuclei as "bindus" and Tibetan yoga "drops". The physical-etheric nucleus is transferred to higher energy bodies when the subtle body dies - serving the same purposes as a "black box" flight recorder in an airplane in preserving information about a particular life's experiences. This nucleus is also responsible for the life review in a near-death experience. According to Besant, the permanent particles are used to preserve within themselves as "powers of vibrations" (i.e. different frequencies and waveforms) the results of all experiences through which they have passed. By the end of one's life in the physical body, the permanent particle (or physical-etheric nucleus) would have stored up "innumerable powers of vibration" (i.e. a set of waveforms of different frequencies). The particle usually resides (probably in an electromagnetic well) around the heart region of the physical-biomolecular and lower physical-etheric body.
Plasma Orbs in Paranormal Literature
In 2004 (as reported in the Physical News Update by Phil Schewe and Ben Stein) an experiment was conducted where particles in a plasma crystal arranged themselves into neat concentric shells (or rings - from a two-dimensional perspective), to a total ball diameter of several millimeters. These orderly Coulomb balls, consisting of aligned, concentric shells of dust particles, survived for long periods. This structure was described as an "onion-like architecture". (Dark matter halos around galaxies also have similar structures.) Paranormal analyst, Allan Danelek (in his book The Case for Ghosts) says, "One could think of orbs as 'tiny ghosts' moving around a room, their essence being contained within a tiny sphere of pure energy, like air inside a bubble." This description matches the description of life-like pulsating plasma spheres generated in the laboratory by Lozneanu and Sanduloviciu. Furthermore the pulsating plasma spheres would also give readings of a fluctuating electromagnetic field. Leading ghost hunter, Joshua Warren, says "Nine times out of ten, if a mysterious field is constant and stable, it's artificial; if it fluctuates erratically, it's paranormal."
According to the paranormal literature "orbs" are light anomalies that appear on photographs and video as spherical balls of light but as flashes of light to the naked eye because of their rapid speed of motion. They exhibit intentional behavior - suggesting some consciousness or awareness of the environment.
Orbs often travel in groups or clusters i.e. they exhibit swarm behavior - also a characteristic of particles in plasma - a characteristic observed by Bohm (see above). Orbs also can dart back and forth rapidly like amoebic life-forms in a Petri dish. The balls can be transparent, translucent or in a bright solid form. These are signature features of magnetic plasma which has the natural property of being able to change its degree of opacity when internal frequencies change. Magnetic plasma would also allow orbs to change their output of light or luminosity. Looking at these balls in close-up reveals that they possess an onion-like layered structure i.e. they have concentric shells - a signature feature of plasma crystals. Danelek says, "...'true orbs' do not reflect light the same way a dust particle or flying insect does, but are instead generally more opaque and, in some cases, even appear to have rings within them." Experienced ghost hunter Joshua Warren (in his excellent book How to Hunt Ghosts) says, "Often, orbs appear to have a nucleus, just like a cell. The nucleus might be surrounded by 'bands' - concentric circles emerging from it. In fact, it might appear like an onion that's been chopped in half." All these characteristics are identical to plasma crystals generated in the laboratory.
Some believe that an orb is a human soul or the life force of those that once inhabited a physical-dense body. Psychics claim to be able to communicate with them on a regular basis, and ghost hunters encounter them quite frequently in photographs and video. It is thought that they are conscious spirits that have stayed behind because they feel bound to their previous life or previous location for whatever reason - a typical characteristic of "Earth-bound" physical-etheric ghosts. According to plasma metaphysics, (genuine) orbs are plasma life forms and are identical to the physical-etheric nuclei observed by metaphysicists Charles Leadbeater and Annie Besant that are released from dying persons.
According to plasma metaphysics, (genuine) orbs are the physical-etheric nuclei that are released from dying persons. Most of these nuclei exit-out of our universe through vortexes after the death of the higher physical-etheric body and are absorbed into the next higher energy body in the next universe - most frequently what metaphysicists describe as the "astral body" and the "astral plane or sphere". However, some stay behind because of unfinished business or some psychological attachment to the physical life that just ended. These are the (genuine) orbs that we see in photographs and videos. This conclusion is consistent with the theory of some paranormal investigators that spirits may find it easier to travel from one dimension to another in the form of orbs which can move more easily (than full-blown subtle bodies) through vortexes to another universe. A number may also get reabsorbed into the dark plasma halos that envelope human embryos to start a new life in this physical-dense universe (i.e. they reincarnate in a physical-dense body). They grow with the embryo and facilitate the morphogenesis of the physical-dense and lower physical-etheric body. As they grow they absorb more energy and particles from the ionized (physical-etheric) environment and eventually become full-blown ovoids with "subtle bodies" inside. In this particular case, the subtle body will be the (higher) physical-etheric body or the "physical-double".
During death, the ovoid contracts into the physical-etheric nucleus (by dispersing its contents) and is released from the dying physical body after traveling through a meridian (which is associated with the lower physical-etheric body) and exits from the head to emerge as an orb with a bright nucleus. Details of this process can be found in the author's book Our Invisible Bodies.
Interactions with Ordinary Matter
Orbs resemble plasma spheres in many ways. However, while plasma spheres generated in the laboratory are composed of standard particles (i.e. the particles described in the physicists' Standard Model currently), orbs are composed of super (i.e. supersymmetric) collisionless dark matter particles. This allows orbs to pass through objects and walls (just like ghosts).
Dark matter in the physical-etheric universe can only interact with ordinary matter if their energy levels temporarily fall and ordinary matter condenses around them. Warren believes that since ghosts have an electrostatic field, it makes sense that particles from the atmosphere would be trapped in the field. This would form a tiny clump of particles that betrays the presence of the ghost. He says that, based on readings on electromagnetic meters during paranormal investigations, paranormal orbs carry a charge of static electricity. Dr Michael Persinger, a lab-based parapsychologist, and his colleagues demonstrated a link between strong or varying electromagnetic fields and orb activity. Orbs are also said to travel along Birkeland currents (i.e. ley or energy lines). This is another characteristic of their electromagnetic nature - which suggests that they are composed of magnetic plasma which is a good generator of electromagnetic fields and a good radiator of electromagnetic waves.
According to Warren, orbs are most active in the deep infrared region. In 1983, physicist Pierre Sikivie proposed a technique to detect invisible dark matter particles called "axions". His technique called for a high "Q" microwave cavity, permeated by a strong static magnetic field. In the magnetic field, axions were expected to convert into microwave photons. Microwaves are in between the infrared region and radio waves in the electromagnetic spectrum. If ghosts are composed of dark matter particles, it can be hypothesized that they too would generate microwave and infrared radiation in the presence of a strong static magnetic field and even radio waves which can be received by our radios.
Subtle Bioplasma Bodies in the Metaphysical Literature
According to plasma metaphysics (see Jay Alfred, Our Invisible Bodies, 2006) the subtle bodies described in the general metaphysical literature (particularly the yoga and New Age literature) are bioplasma bodies.
The Subtle Body is a Bioplasma Body
Subtle bodies have signature features associated with plasma. These include:
• Networks of filamentary currents (known as "nadis" or "meridians" in the metaphysical literature).
• Helical currents, aligned with the spine, which resemble helical pinches and "snakes" often found in plasma.
• Plasma vortexes (know as "chakras" in the metaphysical literature) caused by the helical movement of particles entering the bioplasma body.
• Jets or beams of collimated light that issue out from these vortexes which evidence a plasma discharge (similar to what issues out of a plasma gun).
• A magnetized plasma ovoid which surrounds and shields subtle bodies from the environment (just as the Earth is protected by the magnetosphere - a sphere composed of collisionless magnetized plasma).
• A plasma (Langmuir) sheath (know as an "auric sheath" or "auric shell" in the metaphysical literature) which encloses the ovoid.
• The ability of subtle bodies to pass through each other suggesting that they are composed of collisionless plasma.
• The ability of subtle bodies to emit light (not simply reflect them) that generate colorful halos.
• The ability of subtle bodies to change their degree of opacity - becoming transparent or translucent.
• The electrical feel of subtle bodies.
• The responsiveness of subtle bodies to electromagnetic fields.
All these features were described and documented more than 2,000 years ago, mainly in the Hindu and Chinese acupuncture literature; but also alluded to in the Buddhist and Christian scriptures and literature - long before the age of electricity and magnetism which was only sparked-off in the eighteenth century. Furthermore, the list above is not exhaustive - it is only meant to be a sample of the features of subtle bodies which unmistakably points to plasma. Details of the above observations can be found in the previous articles and books by this author.
The Spark of Life
According to plasma metaphysics, subtle bodies live in a magnetic plasma sphere (an ordinarily invisible counterpart Earth) - an environment similar to the early (physical-dense) Earth. During in vitro fertilization the human embryo is given an electrical jolt to spark-off cell division. The purpose of this routine electrical intervention is not known. All is known is that cell division is unlikely to occur in the absence of this electrical intervention. According to plasma metaphysics (Our Invisible Bodies, 2006), this electrical spark is necessary to generate a plasma bubble which acts as a catalyst during embryogenesis. Unlike a biomolecular environment, a plasma environment allows long-range correlations, without which a 3 dimensional structure could not be projected from a 1 dimensional gene. An embryo within a human body is protected by the plasma bubble (i.e. the physical-etheric double) of the mother and inherits a bubble within this environment. (In this process, it acquires what the Qigong literature refers to as "prenatal qi".)
Accelerated Morphogenesis of the Bioplasma Double
An embryonic bioplasma body is projected into the plasma bubble based on information in the physical-etheric double of the DNA. In fact, subtle radiation containing holographic information was observed by researchers at the Russian Academy of Science as a surprise effect during experiments when they were measuring the vibrational modes of DNA in solution using a sophisticated laser photon correlation spectrometer. According to Sue Benford, their research suggests the existence of a subtle radiation linked to physical DNA that supports the hypothesis of an intact energy field containing relevant 'organismal information'. The Russian experiments produced different measurements when DNA was present and removed from the scattering chamber. These results were contrary to the expectations of the experimenters. After duplicating the initial experiment many times with re-calibrated equipment, the scientists were forced to accept that some new field structure existed. This embryonic bioplasma body within the plasma bubble (which contains helical currents) grows together with the physical-biomolecular body but at an accelerated rate, being aided by the long range correlations present in the plasma but absent in the biochemical field.
Morphogenesis of the Physical Biomolecular Body
There is mutual affinity between the bioplasma and physical-biomolecular bodies. In fact, the term "plasma" is derived from a Greek word meaning "to mould" and was coined by Langmuir based on his observations of the manner in which the positive column of a glow discharge tended to mould itself to the containing tube. Similarly, the bioplasma fetus wraps around the physical-biomolecular embryo while undergoing an accelerated morphogenesis (relative to the physical-biomolecular embryo).
The physical-biomolecular body therefore is cued by the bioplasma body which acts an electronic matrix and a time-resolved hologram that guides its development. The bioplasma body, in turn, acts as a mould or a template body for the development of the single-celled physical-biomolecular embryo to the adult body. This has frequently been pointed out by metaphysicists, including Leadbeater, Besant and Barbara Brennan. Complex biological evolution could not have taken place on Earth without the aid of the templates provided by subtle bioplasma bodies which interacted with biochemical fields via weak electromagnetic fields. These bioplasma bodies are composed of high energy particles and inhabit (magnetized) plasmaspheres which share the same space and gravitational field as the physical-dense Earth. The lowest energy plasmasphere has been described by metaphysicists as the physical-etheric Earth.
Conclusion
As proposed by Tsytovich, Lozneanu and Sanduloviciu, the physical-dense plasma cell was a precursor to the biological cell in the early (physical-dense) Earth - acting as a template or mould for the biological cell to form in 3 dimensional space. However, the lightning strikes that generated the physical-dense plasma cells also generated physical-etheric plasma cells in the physical-etheric Earth. As the conditions on Earth changed and the environment became progressively less ionized, the physical-dense plasma cell was less frequently generated. However, the physical-etheric plasma cell (existing in the physical-etheric Earth) remained as it participated in the development of the biological body to which it was attached to and subsequently was transmitted together with the biological cells in various forms of reproduction - both asexual and sexual.

Subject: Re: Ghosts as plasma life forms, and such life forms' existence is proven! Better than gas life forms...
Mr. Tremblay,
Please forgive my extended absence and lack of correspondence. As I am the only person working for my company… (…) After reading the information you sent regarding plasma I do feel that with the nearly endless range of characteristics that an elastic medium such as plasma can take on it appears to be a nearly perfect medium for paranormal anomalies to operate in. In thinking about this I briefly turned my attention to an object of a child's amusement - a plasma ball. Captured gas trapped in a plasma state becoming charged - and carrying electrical current without any form of conductors - by a simple Van De Graaf generator. It's been sitting in my house for years... ever since I was a child I thought these were the most amazing inventions ever created. The colours, the behavior of electricity flowing through trapped gases - AND - most importantly, something I never thought about until now... the fact that the electricity within the plasma ball responds to sounds (music, loud noises, etc.). A perfect medium and a means to demonstrate the reasoning behind the theory sitting in my home for the last decade and I never recognized it! I have said many times before that the answers we seek are not on some distant horizon of undiscovered mystery, rather they are right before us and we are simply looking over them because we, as paranormal researchers, believe that the answers are going to be more complex than they really are, and your research is proof of this. We look for complex explanations and theories when the real answers lie within some of the most rudimentary natural laws of physics. Please do not take the former as a means of belittling your work as "basic" as my belief is that matters such as this require a keen mind with greater vision and clarity than the remainder of us. Someone who is able to see where the proverbial path leads and has not been led along following the same ideas that have been reconfigured and served as new for the past 5 decades as the rest of us. I believe you have a keen mind and a sharp intellect, sir, and I have a great deal of admiration toward you for the bold path you follow and the work you are researching. Please keep up the good work, you may have found many of the answers that have eluded us for many years now. Paranormal research began, formally, in the UK with the SPR, gained popularity with Harry Price's book The Most Haunted House in England, and now another chapter of intelligent scientific discovery is being written by Roland Michel Tremblay. I know there are great things ahead and I am honored to be counted among your associates. Take care & I hope to speak with you soon.
Kindest Regards,
Brian

Subject: Water and gases as electricity conductors and electron collectors - and how to gather the heat around to transform into electricity
Hi,
I have finally found out how ghosts can gather energy from any source so effortlessly.
Ghosts are now made of gases according to my latest theory, and whenever they appear temperature drops radically. They also appear more often in damp areas, I bet that when the temperature drops, the humidity level drops as well (hygrometers should now be part of the investigator’s toolkit). The lack of heat is because the water evaporates as ghosts try to gain substance and gather energy. Ghosts are little refrigerators, but the cold they produce is a by-product of their energy gathering.
They must compress the gases within the air or/and within themselves, especially nitrogen, which is 3% of any human body, but could be higher in an entity made of gases, also nitrogen is 78.09% of the air content, and nitrogen is a refrigerant. This process gets the water to evaporate, creating the cold spots, and then using this water or gas to collect energy from any electrical or electromagnetic source. Any source of electrons at this point coming into contact with that water or gas possibly gets collected efficiently. Also in this process the heat is absorbed as energy, because fridges produce as much heat as they produce cold. So in a ghost fridge process, where is the heat going or is transferred to? To the entities perhaps. This is how they exist, this is how they gain substance and manifest.
Important conclusions:
1) Water is an excellent conductor of electricity.
2) I cannot be sure if electricity is gathered whilst the water evaporates, or if electricity is gathered after the water has evaporated. The distinction is quite important. In the first instance water is what collects electricity. In the second instance, it is possible that a gas made mostly of hydrogen, oxygen and maybe nitrogen could be an even better conductor of electricity.
This is an important breakthrough for paranormal investigators (the fact that ghosts are little refrigerators in order to sap the heat around as energy).

Subject: Re: About dampness and water
It also links in with the spike in electromagnetic readings. What better to conduct and use electricity than water?
---yes, you are right concerning water. It is an excellent conductor of electricity as well. What I meant was that it seems that energy would be hard to use as a tool to gather water, which would mean that gases are involved. But then this water being gathered could be for the purpose of gathering energy/electricity, as a conductor of electricity. So possibly this is how ghosts gather their energy, by first gathering water and use it as a conductor. Is it possible then that any source of electricity or electromagnetism that comes into contact with this water is feeding the apparition to give it substance, and perhaps it's own existence? Fascinating.
---If anything, to know that ghosts need water (proven by the fact that the heat disappears as water evaporates) tells us they may be made mostly of hydrogen and or oxygen. Or that at least they need water to manifest and gain substance. It could be the mean to gather energy as well.
---the more damp a place is, the more likely a ghost manifestation should happen (although I think too much water will defy the purpose). And so by watering a haunted place a bit might maximise results, and of course providing a source of electricity as well. However the hygrometer should register the place getting dryer as manifestations happen. The indication of a presence would be when the hygrometer shows water evaporating as the temperature becomes colder.
---now, this is thinking outside the box, we're finally getting answers as to how all this works.

And here we are, we need to add another gadget to the investigator equipment and verify this:
An hygrometer to measure the humidity. If I am right whenever the thermometer/temperature goes down, the hygrometer should follow suite. I must put that on my website.
So the cold is not only because suddenly the air is sucked out to create a vacuum because entities need the gases from the air, it could very well be instead (or as well) because suddenly the water evaporates because they need hydrogen and oxygen from the water to manifest themselves. This is rather important, because it means what they need to exist or manifest is not or mostly the air content, it is the water.
Thank you, this is quite a breakthrough!

Dave, what you said made me think about something I read on this page about fridges:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/refrigerator.htm
"The fundamentals of refrigeration are also at work in another important household appliance: the air conditioner. It's estimated that around 5 percent of all the electrical energy used in the U.S. is expended to keep our homes cool. That's pretty amazing, especially when you consider the fact that the principle behind most refrigeration is simple. Here it is in one sentence: When a liquid evaporates, it absorbs heat in the process. If you want to get rid of heat, you need to coax a liquid to convert to its gaseous state [source:ACEEE]."
That means that dampness is important, the evaporation of the water into gases may very well explain why it becomes cold during a manifestation or even in the presence of an unseen entity. It supports my theory that ghosts are made of gases. Especially because how could energy alone affect water at all?
