SCENE OF PACKED TRAIN STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. PEOPLE ARE MISERABLE BECAUSE
THEY ARE GOING TO BE ON THE STRAIN FOR A LONG TIME.

DIVA (narrating) Or trains stop . . .

SCENE OF POLICIE GOING FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE TO EVACUATE PEOPLE.

DIVA(narrating) Or people are evacuated. Everyone has to wait until the bomb squad comes in and disarms them. This is one of
the legacies of war.

GROUP SHOT OF HASHOE'S LIVING ROOM. FRANKIE IS SHOWING OFF HIS NEW METAL DETECTOR.
SPEEDY, MERI AND ME ARE THERE WITH HASHOE AND SOME OF HIS BOYS.

DIVA (narrating) It was Frankie's hobby, first. Hashoe said

CLOSE-UP OF HASHOE

HASHYou will never find anything valuable with that! You'll work for hours and all you'll get is a bucket of beer caps!

TWO-SHOT OF HASHOE AND FRANKIE.

FRAN Watch, I'll find something good, you'll see.

FRONT-PAGE STORY ON ALKMAAR NEWSPAPER WITH A PICTURE OF A MAN SITTING IN FRONT OF A
CACHE OF GOLD COINS.

DIVA(narrating) Right after that, a man found a pot of gold coins using a metal detector. He found the ancient, Roman coins in
a farmer's field right outside Alkmaar.

GROUP-SHOT IN HASHOE'S LIVING ROOM. FRANKIE IS PASSING AROUND A GERMAN HELMET WITH A
BULLET HOLE IN THE TOP. HASHOE IS SERIOUSLY LOOKING AT THE NAZI PISTOL. WHEN MERI PASSES
THE HELMET TO DIVA, SHE SHAKES HER HAND AND HEAD 'NO'.

FRAN (to Hashoe) See, I told you that I would find something good.

DIVA(narrating) Frankie had used his metal detector in a forest by Heiloo. Right under the earth, he found the bodies of two
German soldiers that had been buried there since World War II. It was obvious how one of the soldiers died (Dan holds up the
helmet to see the bullet hole), but since there were only bones, it was hard to figure out how the other one died. No one cared,
anyway. They just took the relics and buried the bones back up. The Dutch boys in North Holland tell me that there's all kinds
of German soldiers buried in shallow g raves like that. They like to brag that the Dutch Resistance used to kick a lot of German
ass. They did.

TWO-SHOT OF FRANKIE SHOWING HASHOE OLD GERMAN MONEY AND A WEDDING RING.

DIVA(narrating) Hashoe was sold. He got himself a metal detector. Guess what he found?

TWO-SHOT OF HASHOE AND FRANKIE WALKING THROUGH A LOCAL FOREST. HASHOE'S DETECTOR
MAKES ALERT SOUND, HASHOE DIGS AND DIGS TO FIND A BEER CAP. HE THROWS IT IN THE BUCKET
HE'S CARRYING. THE CAMERA ZOOMS INTO THE BUCKET TO SEE A LOT OF BEER CAPS, A BROKEN
SCREWDRIVER, SEVERAL RUSTY NAILS, OLD DUTCH COINS AND AN OLD DUTCH LICENSE PLATE FROM
1953.

DIVA(narrating) To cheer Hashoe up, Speedy suggested that we go to the beach and party. Hashoe took his metal detector with
him.

GROUP SHOT OF PLAYERS ON BEACH. THERE ARE THREE BOXES OF BEER AND A COOLER UNDER AN
UMBRELLA. OTHER PEOPLE ARE CLOSEBY. MERI IS LAYING ON A TOWEL TOPLESS GETTING A SUNTAN.
DIVA HAS SHORTS AND A T-SHIRT ON. SHE IS READING HER FAVORITE BOOK 'ORIGINAL BLESSING' BY
MATTHEW FOX. FRANKIE AND SPEEDY ARE IN THE BACKGROUND THROWING A FRISBEE TO HASHOE'S
DOGS. HASHOE IS SEEN WALKING DETERMINEDLY UP THE BEACH WITH HIS DETECTOR IN HIS RIGHT
HAND , WITH A BEER IN HIS LEFT HAND AND A JOINT HANGING OUT OF HIS MOUTH.

DIVA(narrating) Poor Hashoe only got a few beeps and it was only beer caps.

IS STILL READING HER BOOK, WHILE SOMETIMES WATCHING HIM. FRANKIE AND SPEEDY ARE STILL
PLAYING WITH THE DOGS.

DIVA(narrating) We didn't think he would find anything, except maybe some more beer caps and another license plate. We
were wrong . . .

ONE-SHOT OF HASHOE STANDING IN FRONT OF A BIG HOLE. THERE IS SOMETHING MADE OF METAL IN
THE HOLE, BUT HASHOE CAN'T DIG IT OUT BECAUSE IT IS SO BIG. HASHOE PUTS A COLD BEER TO HIS
SWEATY FOREHEAD AND LOOKS AT THE METAL THING. HE FINISHES HIS BEER AND LOOKS AT THE
METAL THING. SPEEDY AND FRANKIE ARE COMING UP FROM THE BEACH TOWARDS MERI AND ME.
SPEEDY AND FRANKIE BARELY LOOK INSIDE THE HOLE WHEN HASHOE DROPS THE BEER BOTTLE ON
THE METAL. A 'CLUNK IS HEARD', THEN ANOTHER ONE AS IF AN ECHO.

DIVA Why did you do that?

HASH To see wh at kind of a noise it would make.

MERI (sitting up) I think you woke it up.

GROUP SHOT AS EVERYONE BECOMES SILENT. THEY BEGIN TO HEAR SOMETHING LIKE LITTLE GROANS.

DIVA(narrating) Everyone knew what it was. They grew up around them and someone is always finding a new one left over
from that war.

THREE-SHOT OF SPEEDY, MERI AND ME. MERI IS GRABBING HER TOWEL AND DIVA IS GRABBING HER
BACKPACK. MERI'S TOP IS ON THE BEACH.

DIVA I think tha t we had better get the fuck out of here.

SPDY(to Hashoe) Get your dogs out of here. Frankie and I will warn the other people. (To Diva and Meri) You guys had better
hide. The policie are probably going to come.

MERI We're out of here!

HER TOP ON THE BEACH.

DIVA (narrating) Meanwhile, Speedy, Hashoe and Frankie waited for the policie to come. Reporters came, too.

THREE-SHOT OF HASHOE TELLING THE POLICIE ABOUT THE BOMB ON THE BEACH. HE IS LOOKING AND
POINTING TOWARD THE BEACH WHEN A LOUD SOUND RINGS THROUGH EVERYONE'S EARS AND A
LARGE ORANGE AND YELLOW FIREBALL I S SEEN IN THE HORIZON. EVERYTHING SHAKES.

TWO-SHOT OF MERI AND ME SITTING ON A BUS WITH A BUNCH OF OLD LADIES AROUND THEM. THE
BUS ROCKS A LITTLE FROM THE EXPLOSION.

MERI (rolling her eyes and speaking cynically) Ja, I think Hashoe woke it up.

DIVA(looking a Meri wrapped in a towel) I don't think you're going to get your top back.

MERI (shaking her head) Nee, I don't think so, either.

SHOT OF BUS HEADING BACK TOWARDS ALKMAAR.

DIVA(narrating) This time, Hashoe lost three boxes of beer, his cooler, an umbrella and his metal detector.

SHOT OF HASHOE ON FRONT PAGE OF ALKMAAR NEWSPAPER, POINTING TOWARDS THE HORIZON AND
THE LARGE FIREBALL IS SEEN.

DIVA (narrating) But he didn't care. He was famous.

ONE-SHOT OF HASHOE PUTTING THE FRAMED ARTICLE ON HIS WALL.

DIVA(narrating) And he didn't give up on his new hobby. He got a new detector.
